We are delighted to extend an invitation to you for the presentation of the Migrimage Erasmus project’s results. This event is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 30th, 2022, at 8:00 pm in Sapphos Square. The presentation is an integral part of the “Mediterranean Researcher’s Night” organized by the University of the Aegean.
Following this presentation, an enthralling concert featuring Rad Music International will ensue.
@migrimage_ MIGRIMAGE, an Erasmus Plus Project, delves into the portrayal of migration in the Southern Borders of Europe. The collaboration involves a consortium consisting of three universities and three NGOs. These partners possess profound knowledge and hands-on experience in migration matters: the University of Granada, the University of Salento, the University of the Aegean (Lesvos), the Andalusian Union for Development (Spain), ARCI Lecce Solidarieta’ Cooperativa Sociale (Italy), and Solidarity Lesvos (Greece).
The culmination of this two-year endeavor is the creation of an online interactive documentary (Web Documentary), a series of online courses (Massive Open Online Courses), and an Interdisciplinary Master’s Degree set to be offered from the academic year 2023/2024 at the partner universities.
The thematic scope encompasses intermedial narratives and social activism (Granada), digital and citizen journalism (Lecce), and critical, anti-colonial geography, collective mapping, and video-documentary creation as tools for cross-border action research and social change (Lesvos).
The program presentation will be facilitated by:
– Kristi Petropoulos, associate professor at the University of the Aegean, Department of Geography.
– Yannis Skopeteas, associate professor at the University of the Aegean, Department of Cultural Technology and Communication.
– Elisavet Stavrianoudaki, sociologist, educator, and member of Solidarity Lesvos.
A special guest, Jason Apostolopoulos, rescuer on @mediterranearescue’s ship Mare Jonio, will also grace the event.
The program’s outcomes will be accessible to the public at the Geography department stand.
We eagerly await your presence at this momentous event!
